WHEN LIVING ABROAD FEELS HARDER THAN EXPECTED
Denmark is called one of the happiest countries
in the world. So why is this so hard?
Relocation means learning new social codes and ways of communicating while also helping your partner and children find their footing.
You may recognise some of this:
Belonging
You feel like an outsider. Building genuine friendships takes longer than expected, and you no longer feel completely sure where you belong.
Work and everyday culture
The unwritten rules of Danish workplaces and social life leave you confused or constantly second-guessing yourself.
Couple and family relationships
One partner may have left behind a career, community or sense of independence. Tensions begin to surface in places you did not expect.
Children and teenagers
Each child experiences the move differently. One may adapt quickly while another becomes anxious, withdrawn or unsettled.
The problem isn't you.
You are going through a major life transition
Finding relocation difficult does not mean that moving was a mistake.
A move affects work, relationships, identity, parenting and belonging — often all at once. Support gives you space to understand what has changed and decide what your family needs now.

The Family Landing programme
A focused five-session cycle, with room to adapt.
You can come with one specific concern or begin with a focused five-session cycle.
Sessions can be individual, with your partner or with your teenager when this is helpful and agreed.
Session 1
Map the situation
We explore what the transition has unsettled and decide where to focus.
Sessions 2-4
Work on what matters now
We understand the patterns involved and develop realistic ways forward for everyday life.
Session 5
Take stock and decide
We review what has changed. You can then stop, arrange occasional sessions or continue if further support would be useful.
Sessions are booked one at a time. There is no obligation to enter open-ended therapy.
